Hakiemie Rug Gallery

Saruk rug

Saruk rugs are Persian rugs that originate from the village of Sarouk and neighbouring villages in central Iran. These rugs are known for their high-quality materials, intricate curvilinear floral patterns, this one displays  subtle movement  towards the centre, like a medallion that is in the process of forming.  Cotton foundations and tight knots makes them dense and soft and well known for their durability.  Saruk rugs are distinguished by their salmon pink field colour, which is created by mixing curdled milk or yogurt into the dye.
