Haj-Jalili Tabriiz rug
These rugs are known for their unique approach to rug-making and their distinctive colour palettes and design elements. The rugs are often characterized by an intricate pattern of vine-scrolls and palmettes, and they are especially known for mixing lighter colours such as pinks, golds, and greys into the design. The rugs are made with very fine knots, often using silk-like wool, and they are known for their soft, muted dyes. The master weaver Haji Jalili, from the nearby town of Marand, is credited with reawakening the Persian town of Tabriz as an important rug-making centre at the end of the 19th century. His rugs are considered masterpieces of the craft.
